DENALI NATIONAL PARK PHOTO TOUR
ALASKA
AUGUST 24 – 30, 2012
This premier trip takes you deep into the heart of Denali National Park where few tourists are allowed to go. Just the mention of Denali conjures up images of spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and one of the last places to experience the vastness of nature. Fall comes early to Alaska, and being in Denali during the brief autumn season borders on the magical. Awe-inspiring tundra spreads out before you for miles in shades of red, gold, and orange. The resident animals are at their best at this time of year, with pristine new coats and fully matured antlers, often displaying mating behavior or migrating in groups. And looming high above it all is the majestic snow-capped Denali, the highest mountain in North America, flanked by the other towering peaks of the Alaska Range.
On past trips we have seen dall sheep, migrating caribou, moose, bear, and migrating birds making their way over thousands of miles to the south. We will have excellent opportunities for macro photography of lichens, mosses, and other plants unique to the sub-arctic.
Our base is the gem of the park’s lodgings, the secluded North Face Lodge. The Lodge provides us with our own van, driven by an expert naturalist who takes us to the best photographic locations and provides information about the native animals and plants. Not only is this a premier photo tour with expert instruction, it also has the added benefit of providing you with educational knowledge in the natural and cultural history of this ecologically sensitive part of our planet.
Immerse yourself in the beauty and wildness of Denali. Experience this unrivaled area as few can, witnessing its striking mantle of fall color and sweeping vistas, while at the same time stimulating your intellect and your photographic creativity.
Here is what others have said about this trip:
“Many thanks for the outstanding trip to Denali…First Rate Five Star all the way!!! I can still see us all on TOP of the bus and hear the laughter as we shared our passion–photography. You were both so aware of each of us in this incredible setting as we captured such beautiful images. Your suggestions in the field and the daily critiques really broadened my knowledge base and love for my camera. I have been traveling for years and will for many more–this trip will remain one of my all time favorites.” Susan
“The workshop with Mollie and Mary to Denali Park in Alaska this past summer was amazing. Mollie and Mary are wonderful leaders. They’re personable, encouraging, funny, conscientious and very pro-active with their help and instruction without being invasive. Accommodations at North Face Lodge exceeded my expectations, the food was luscious and our hosts were gracious… It was a memorable workshop that I won’t soon forget.” Linda
“What a glorious trip you made Denali. I had such a glorious time–it was a trip of a lifetime. You were both so incredibly great, patient, and helpful. I felt so much more free in my shooting with all of your help to say nothing of inspired. The whole trip was just magnificent to the special restaurant, North Face Lodge and our naturalists. You were perfect as was the whole experience. Thank you SO MUCH.” Jane
